Welcome to the 1st Annual Christian Associates Worship Arts Gathering at Crossroads International Church in Geneva, Switzerland. Thursday night was the first time we met together. Albert Dijkstra led us in a time of sharing what we were hoping to get out of our weekend together, and Marty Uhler led us in a time of worship.
Friday and Saturday mornings before our sessions began, we spent some time worshipping together.
Kelly is part of CA's Worship Arts Leadership Team, so he had the opportunity to lead one of the large-group sessions each day. Kelly taught on how to use worship forms other than music in a church-planting context, particularly for those smaller churches who don't have musicians. Elizabeth de Smaele (who is teaching here in the photo) led the other large-group session each day. Elizabeth taught on spiritual formation.
Amy Swacina, an intern with the Oasis Madrid team, danced for us during one of Elizabeth's sessions. Interestingly enough, Amy is a Calvin grad.
One of our friends, Scott Last, enjoyed the sessions so much he refused to leave. We had to set up the chairs around him.
In the afternoons we had hands-on breakout sessions. Each of us chose to join either the music, worship alternatives or drama track for these sessions.
The weekend was very full, but we did have some free time. Of course checking email was high on the list for most of us.
In Heather Cady's free time, she discovered another alternative worship form. "Massage worship," she calls it. :)
Saturday evening the youth from Crossroads Church joined us for one of our worship gatherings. We took the opportunity to explore some new worship forms as a group. In this photo Troy Cady is telling the story of Creation using a storytelling method called Godly Play.
John Grooters, media guru at Angel House Media, was our special guest for the weekend. He shared some about his media ministry during some of our sessions. Saturday night John took a few of us out and shot a modern parable on video.
Sunday morning a few of us led worship at the Crossroads services.
During the service Marty Uhler, CA's Southern European Director, talked briefly about the work of Christian Associates in Europe.
